Out in the wild world, interacting with people can be tricky. Each person is their own universe, their own set of values and beliefs. The way a person can carry oneself in the world and interact with the many different personalities this planet has to offer, the more experiences will come out of it. That is why interpersonal interaction is a critical concept to keep in mind while establishing oneself as a young adult.
The real world is scary. There are people you have to impress, people you have to work with despite their terrible personalities. When preparing to thrust yourself into the depths of the real world after college graduation, there are a few pointers that every young adult should keep in mind:
Look for Nonverbal Expressions
The nonverbal expressions that people give off are the most important aspect of any interaction. What people nonverbally communicate can cause the conversation to start or turn in a different direction if the communication is misreading. For instance, when attending an interview a person should sit up straight with a confident body posture. Even if the person has the worst case of social anxiety, a confident posture is what a person needs to succeed in creating the perfect image of oneself, despite actually feeling perfect or confident.Any young person must remember that the image they craft of themselves in order to move up in the career field, does not have to be the true image they want to portray. We all have masks for when we interact within social situations, each mask calls for a different situation. This can be used as a tool for moving up within a company, perceiving to be the type of personality that is expected but having a different mask for when interacting offsite.
