Whether you are in college working through finals week or a young professional trudging through the first holiday deadlines, there is bound to be one breakdown from the stress. Sometimes it is the minutia that will make people breakdown in hysterics or tears: a wrong look, a "Hey" that came at the most inconvenient time or a performance review at the worst times. Anything, in the time of peak stress, will trigger the worst reactions. To present such a breakdown from happening in the near future, here are 5 go-to things that comfort people when life just gets to be a little too much.

1. Listening to good music

With a variety of Spotify playlists geared towards calm, peace and serenity, music can help smooth the rough edges around a stressful situation. Popping in some headphones and blasting your favorite artist until you feel less burdened can put your mood in a far better place than before.

2. Putting on a motivational podcast

Sometimes we all need someone to push us in the right direction. Words like "Be the best you" and "Do not procrastinate" need to be said so that we move past the feeling of being stuck. Listening to the inspiring words of "Grow Successful" or "Run, Selfie, Repeat" can put situations into a positive perspective.

3. Watching classic movies just for the escape

While escapism is never the answer to present problems, a good distraction from reality never hurts. When your brain turns to mush and you're struggling to finish important assignments, take a little load off and turn on a movie. From "Stand By Me" to "Legally Blonde" and "Rebels Without A Cause" in between, your mood can significantly change when reveling in the simplicity of these fictional characters' lives.

4. Eating junk food (or chocolate in particular)

It is easy for any of us to turn to food in a time of dire stress. Even though excessive eating is not the healthiest, no one is against two pieces of dark chocolate (or half the bag.... desperate times always call for desperate measures).

5. Turning off your brain and enjoying a quiet moment

This one is easier said than done because when you are working in a highly stressful and strenuous all you want to do is get things done. But deep breathes and quieting the mind can help alleviate the tension and get you back on more even ground.

Some of these things may not the healthiest things to be doing, consider stress a temporary time period right now. So take you finals and finish your holiday assignments now as stress-free as possible. They are only tiny roadblocks between you and the life you should be having.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
