I have been a public health major for almost four years now, and I get the same question pretty often.
"So what can you do with that?"
Honestly please keep asking me because I still have no idea. I've looked into it a few times, and some things sound appealing, and some sound like things I'd have no idea what to do in. So in light of midterm week coming up, and my constant thoughts of dropping out increasing, I thought I'd make this list as some sort of motivation.
1. Health and Safety Engineer
Health and Safety Engineers work primarily in scientific and technical services, but are also employed in construction and with the government. Anything with engineer in the title is not gonna work for me. This will not be my job of choice. Next.
2. Environmental Scientist
Environmental Scientists protect both environmental and human health. Many do this through land reclamation after pollution or developing regulations the restrict air and soil pollution. Environmental Scientists do this through data collection, plan development, and sharing information with the government, business or the public. I would look into this, I'm totally into ~health.~
3. Health Care Administrator
A Healthcare Administrator supports a clinic, department or group of physicians by directing and coordination health services. The main goal of a Healthcare Administrator is to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare services. Totally into this..I'm all about being the boss.
4/5. Biostatistician and Epidemiologist
I am currently taking both biostats and epidemiology. Neither are happening. Both hurt my soul.
6. Nutritionist
This I'm so into its not even funny. A nutritionistis a person who advises on matters of food and nutrition impacts on health. Hello future career!!
Public health majors rejoice. We are important, and we, too can save the day sometimes. Maybe I wont drop out...yet.
