I am proud to be an American (where at least I know I’m free). There is no denying that being a citizen of the United States is a powerful feeling and it’s rewarding to know that we live in such a great country. America is a diverse country where anyone is free to be whom or what he or she wants to be. We are given an explicit list of rights and are free of socialism and communism alike. This leads me to bring up a reoccurring problem we Americans face daily: the issue of bashing America because of political views. Of course anyone is entitled to an opinion, but when you bring up my country and hate on it because of presidential candidates, please stop yourself right there. Take into consideration all of the reasons why our nation is so great, which have nothing to do with the candidates running for office.
We the people, by the people, for the people.
This is a statement that was made during the foundation of our country. We are a peoples’ nation and ultimately, we will never have a dictator for this reason.
Countries envy us.
Countries around the world do not have an establishment the way the United States does. We do not have our computers censored and we do not live under a government that dictates what we can and cannot Google online.
We are diverse.
Until you start traveling to other countries, you won’t realize that other nations do not have the diversity of people that America has. We have so many cultures and so many different languages being spoken in our country that we serve as a cultural melting pot that everyone wants to be apart of.
Immigrants.
Speaking of cultural diversity, the United States has been the place where immigrants seek refuge from their previous home countries. This country is the land of the free and home of the brave, which is why people want to come to America so that they can start a new and improved way of living.
The opportunities.
Being a citizen of the United States, one is able to experience anything. One will never be limited on what he or she can or cannot do. Being a citizen here means you will not be restricted; you are able to travel from place to place, and as you do, you’ll be grateful that your homeland is America.
Patriotism.
Our nation takes great pride in its success. We started off by revolting against Britain and winning the revolutionary war. Not to mention we’re back to back World War champs, who wouldn’t be proud of that?
Equality.
It’s sometimes brushed to the side, but in many countries women and men are not put on the same platform. Men are oftentimes looked at as superior to women, which gives women less of a chance for things like education and making her own decisions. In the United States all men and women are treated equally, which is something most can take for granted at times.
To save some time, I needed to condense this list. The list could go on and on because when you live in such a great country as this one, the list never truly ends. ‘Merica.
