Protesting And Hashtags Won't Change The World

But you can.

Protesting And Hashtags Won't Change The World
Huffington Post

With all that has been going on in the world, it is no surprise that people are shouting for change. No one wants to live in constant fear of a terrorist attack or some kind of brutality based on prejudice. However, we've come to the point where protests and hashtags are doing very little, apart from trending. There comes a point where being aware of the situation and protesting is no longer sufficient. So enough is enough. Stop screaming and actually do something.

To all the people protesting the police, some of you should join the force. Make changes from the inside. I'm sure many would welcome your insight. The Dallas police chief said this after the Dallas shooting, “We’re hiring,” he said. “Get out that protest line and put in an application. We'll put you in your neighborhood and help you resolve some of those problems." They are asking for your help in the situation. Are you willing to provide it?

For others, complaining about politicians, become one or become a lobbyist. Use your experience as an everyday person to win over people and push for changes that benefit people like you. Be the change you want to see in the world. There's always a way to make a difference. It's just a matter of whether or not you are willing to take that step to do it.

As for all the people staying silent, it's time to speak up. You don't have to pick a side on everything but picking a movement to join and speaking out on can help the cause. It doesn't have to be big, but it should be done.

As Michael Jackson once sang, "If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change." So, everyone go take a good hard look at yourself. Are you making the world a better place? If not, then start with yourself.

I can guarantee that if everyone who read this post made a change, the world would be a slightly better place. It's not going to change overnight, especially not with something as large as terrorism and inequality at the forefront of issues. But movements start small at first, then gain momentum. Start with yourself, then inspire your friends and family to do the same. Let's fight to make the world a better place for the next generation because, in all honesty, this one's a hot mess.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
