As the end of the school year is approaching, we all have mixed emotions. There are so many things to be excited for yet so many things to be upset about.
The pro's of the end of the school year are so sweet.
Seeing your family and hometown friends.
This is probably the best part about being home in my opinion. I love being able to spend more time with my family. I would constantly get homesick over the school year because I was missing major events at home or because I was simply in need of a home cooked meal. And of course, seeing my hometown homies is always a highlight of being home. Our time together is always full of laughter, smiles, and many, many stories.
No more class. No more homework. No more finals.
You are free. You don’t have to worry about that evil professor anymore. You are able to sit at home and relax on Sunday nights because you don’t have to worry about that LearnSmart due at midnight. For the next two months, you will be able to live a less stressful and less productive life and that is perfectly okay. You've earned it.
It’s finally summer.
Summer and happiness just go along with each other. The sun is out. The pool is open. And it feels awesome outside. Time to get rid of the rain jackets and bring out the bathing suits and flip flops. Summer is the time for things like, bonfires, amusement parks, and drive inn’s. Most importantly, it is a time to escape from anything that school demands.
The con's of the end of the school year are always the worst.
Leaving all the friends you made at school.
Your first year of college is the prime time to make new friends at your school. You spend so much of your time with them and become so close. Now you won’t get to see them for two months. This sounds like the perfect excuse for a summer road trip to me.
The social life.
Suddenly, you are no longer in complete control of your own curfew, plans, life, etc. Your mom may ask all the same questions that your roomie asks before you go out, (For example: Where are you going? Who are you going with? When do you plan on getting back?) but the only difference is mom will be making the final decisions for all her own questions, not you. Prepare yourself for this.
Packing up your dorm room.
I promise you will regret bringing so much to college with you. While you are packing for college you might look at something and think, “Yeah, I’m probably going to need that at some point.” No. You are most likely wrong. You have way too much stuff. So when you are packing it all up on your last day, you will look at it all and just think, “I have not used this once this entire year.” or “Why do I even have this?” or maybe “I knew having to rent that U-Haul was a sign…”
Don't worry, you will be back at school for your next semester before you know it.
