The University of Arizona offers a vast variety of residence halls on campus. With students having 23 different halls to chose from, 776 students are lucky enough to call Coronado their home. With Coronado being home to the most amount of students, things can get rowdy to say the least. Here's a list of all the good (and bad) Coronado has to offer.
Pro: There is always something to do
Whether you want to have a relaxing Netflix night with your best friends or get ready for a night out with them, there is always something going on. It is almost impossible to have down time because people are constantly knocking on your door informing you about what's going on.
Con: Your neighbor thinks they’re a professional DJ
If it’s not quiet hours expect your neighbor to be blasting music all day every day. For some reason they think they're the next David Guetta so the music never stops. Kiss away your daytime naps because a peaceful setting is just not practical in Coronado. The worst part of it all, it’s not even music you like. With that being said noise canceling headphones are a necessity.
Pro: Free food in the lobby
If you're a Coronado resident you know exactly what I’m talking about. For some reason there is always extremely delicious food arrays offered in the lobby. Yes, I know it’s super random that they hand out free Taco Bell on a Wednesday night, but hey, no one is complaining.
Con: Weekend check-in
Check-in is way more annoying than it sounds. Why is Coronado the only residence hall on campus that requires this Thursday through Saturday. Yes, checking in seems like no big deal until there's a line basically out the door just to get inside your own building. Sliding your cat card has never seemed so tedious or a bigger waste of time than it is during Coronado check in.
Pro: The study rooms
Forget the ridiculously long trek to the library. The study rooms in Coronado are on every floor and just as great, if not better. Even though they are basically right outside your door, the only requirement is finding the motivation to actually use them!
Con: The elevators
Not only do the elevators take a century to get on but they stop at every floor. A what should be 20-second ride turns into an infinity. You literally have to budget elevator time into wherever you're going because taking the elevator is no quick task. Also, the weirdest things can be found on these elevators. Whether it’s barf or wrappers of variety things, they're usually filthy dirty. Call it part of the "nasty nado" experience.
Pro: You’ve met your best friends
They say college is where you meet your best friends and they are not kidding. If you live in Coronado, your best friends live right down the hall or are an elevator ride away. From texting them at 4 a.m. to meet at the vending machines or having them accompany you while you slave away at your three weeks worth of laundry, they’re always there no matter what.
