In a perfect world, every song that we heard and loved would automatically be downloaded onto our personal playlists, and we would never have to waste time downloading music or locating the songs on YouTube to listen to for the weeks between initially hearing said songs and when we decide to sit down for a few hours to download the hodge-podge of random songs we’ve collected since the last time we got the crazy hair in our ass to spend two or three hours glued to the computer in order to make sure that the songs downloaded properly and that the downloads you choose are of a high enough quality, but the world isn’t perfect, and I’m frustrated with the back ache I have after downloading over 100 songs. So, without further ado, pros and cons of Downloading New Music.
Pro
You have a load of new songs to jam to in the car, shower, or anywhere else you have the opportunity to have your music app open.
Con
If you aren’t buying your music like you should be (I promise there is no judgement here. I stopped paying when I was a freshman in high school, and my best friend Shellby introduced me to a ripping website), you have to be so careful about what site you’re using, what you’re bringing into your computer, and most importantly if the whole freaking song is being downloaded or if it’s being cut off. It would be so much easier to just hit up iTunes.
Pro
You no longer have to peruse Pandora or Spotify, skipping every song that isn’t the one you’re determined to listen to before giving up and looking to YouTube, where you’re inevitably stuck with one of the thirty second ads that won’t give you the skip option. Huzzah! Time saved for you!!

You no longer have to wade through Pandora or Spotify or use YouTube, which means you have a one to two week period where you aren’t discovering music to vibe to! Why spend time listening to songs that you want to keep skipping when you’ve got a brand new playlist waiting for you sans ads? THE ANSWER SHOULD BE EVERYONE. THERE IS ALWAYS NEW MUSIC TO BE LISTENING TO, TO BE EXPANDING YOUR MUSICAL CHOICES.

I mean, let’s be honest here, it feels great when the number of songs on your phone goes up. Currently, I’m at 1,104, and it feels pretty neat. When I reached 1,000, I did a small celebration.

Phone storage isn’t necessarily a problem for all, but when the end of your phone’s contract is rolling around, storage always seems to be a little tight. My policy when this becomes a real worry, DELETE PICTURES. DELETE THE DAMN PICTURES. CLEAN OUT SCREEN SHOTS (We all have them. We’re all a little petty. No shame), THE MEMES, AND ANYTHING YOU’VE ALREADY PUT ON SOCIAL MEDIA. Always make room for new tunes.
Now, there are many more pros and cons to downloading new music, but the bottom line is, no matter which way the scale is tipped, it is always, ALWAYS worth it to beef up your tunes library.
