The Pros And Cons Of A Christmastime Birthday

Birthdays are always fun. Everyone loves being remembered for being born while getting tons of presents and the always great reason to stuff your face with cake. For those unlucky few who happen to have their birthdays during Christmas Time, birthdays can be more of a pain rather than a blessing. With every con though, a silver-tinsel lining can be found.

Pro: Your family is in town

With your birthday around Christmas, your family is all gathered together and it is a great time to see everyone. Those who have birthdays any other time of the year can't see all of their loved ones on their birthday. Talk about a bummer!

Con: All of your friends are out of town

All of your friends are away on vacation or visiting their families out of town. Want a decent party? Don't have it until everyone comes back into town.

Pro: No one cares if you eat a ton on your birthday

With all the extra holiday food going around, everyone is working on their hibernation-bod and won't mind if you had the second, or fifth, piece of cake topped with ice cream. It's a whole other birthday perk!

Con: Extra holiday food

Please. No more food. I can't take it.

Pro: Your family can't forget about getting you a birthday gift

Seriously though. Christmas and your birthday are only a few days apart, so they can't possibly forget to give you some extra love right? Wrong.

Con: "Merry Birthday" Gifts

The bane of every Christmastime baby's life. Merry Birthday gifts are the worst excuse to not put any thought into someone's gift. Christmas isn't about what you get, but birthdays certainly are, whether you will admit it or not.

Pro: You can possibly say you had a White Christmas/Birthday!

Everyone's dream is to have a White Christmas, of course not a snow-pocalpyse, and with a winter birthday it is quite possible to have a little snow on your birthday!

Con: It's never that nice

It only snows in the North which is always a blizzard, and if you are in the South, it's raining and cold. You are more likely to be sick than not, and for those really unlucky few who decide to have a birthday party in the summer, it always rains on that day. Without fail.

Pro: Your birthday is usually when school is out

Ahhh, the school year is over and you don't have to worry about grades, homework, and of course finals. Is there a better way to enjoy your birthday?

Con: Your birthday is around the most stressful time of the year

HOLY CRAP FINALS. HOLY CRAP GRADES. I DON'T KNOW THIS MATERIAL! WHEN DID WE LEARN THIS?!

Pro: You are constantly partying

End-of-Finals parties, Ugly-Sweater parties, New-Years parties, Graduation Parties, Back-to-School parties. There's no end to the fun and you don't even have to worry about school.

Con: Everyone is constantly partying

With all the parties going on, no one is likely to come to a birthday party to get hungover again if it's after New Year's Eve. If it's around Christmas, it's going to be coupled with a tacky sweater party, without fail. No cute-themed parties, just the cliché holiday ones. Yippee.

Pro: You wouldn't change it for the world

Maybe for a summer birthday.

Being born on or around Christmas is really difficult for those unlucky souls. The holidays are for gathering around the tree and and celebrating the end of one year and the beginning of another! Happy Birthday to all those December and January babies and keep working on those winter-bods.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
