College is a different experience for everyone. Some people absolutely love it and thrive. Others struggle really bad and get super homesick. They may even transfer back home to be with their family because they just aren't ready to deal with the responsibilities. No matter how you feel about the situation I have a couple pros and cons I'd like to discuss my experience of being on my own in college.

Pro: You can do absolutely whatever you want

You're all alone in a room during some part of the day. No one is around. No one is watching you. You can do absolutely whatever you want! Dance around the room in your underwear, listen to music as loud as possible, (without disturbing your neighbors of course), eat your favorite food while chewing with your mouth open, or watch the same movie for the millionth time in a row. Really the skies the limit.

Con: No one is there to keep you on tasks

When you would be at home you would always have your parents there to tell you to get back to doing your homework or to clean up your room to start doing your laundry. Heck, they even tell you when to eat. Now you're all by yourself doing whatever you want and things could get a little out of hand. You could lose focus on what you need to pay attention to. It's up to you to keep up with your school work and make sure you do good in your work.

Pro: You can hang out with your friends whenever you want

If you're a very social person and just like being around your friend's college is the best place for that. You guys can study together, work on homework, watch movies, or cook. Basically, anything you would want to do that sometimes your parents would restrict you from because they sometimes don't believe you'll get anything done. Now that may be true in some situations, but in reality, it just might take a little longer to do if you were by yourself.

Con: You can get lonely

Even if you do spend a bunch of time with your friends there will be days where you end up by yourself and not really talking to anyone and this can be pretty lonely now you always have your parents you can call and text and talk to you but if there's no one actually there to enter act with it could be kind of sad .

but even on those down days just remember you're not alone. you have people that care about and want to see you succeed. if youve made it this far you cant make it anywhere.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
