High school is a wild ride for everybody. From the first day, being made fun of for carrying around a school map, to walking across the stage getting the diploma. High School can be fun, especially at Friday night football games, pep rallies, and prom. High school can also be difficult, and not just in the classroom. Other kids can be mean, and rumors go around all of the time. After my freshman year, I learned to stick to myself. People will talk about everything even if you don't talk to them. Personally, graduating high school a year early is one of the best decisions I have made.
Pros:
1. You get to leave high school a whole year early!
If you are like me and hate or hated high school, leaving early is a dream come true.
2. Taking senior pictures is a blast.
I mean who doesn't love getting their picture taken? I love it.
3. The senior student section is so much fun.
Being in the front row at the football games is a challenge, but also a senior trophy.
4. So many opportunities.
Colleges love seeing your motivation and success when they see you skipped a grade.
5. You are a role model.
Believe it or not, underclassman look up to you especially.
6. You get a head start in life.
Some people say not to rush, but I just say "I am not rushing, I am just a step ahead". Being a step ahead is not always a bad thing.
Cons:
1. You don't graduate with your original class.
Some may think that is a blessing, but others may be upset they can't walk across the stage with their kindergarten classmates.
2. You are the youngest in the graduating class.
When I walked across the stage, I was 16 going on 17. Some of my classmates were almost 19.
3. Missed opportunities for playing sports.
Athletes miss an entire year of playing their favorite high school sports.
Highschool is filled with pros and cons, especially if you decide to skip a year. While spending just 3 short years in high school, enjoy everything while it lasts. Enjoy the pep rallies and cheering on the football team. Play every sport if you can. Try to be in every club or organization that your school offers. Apply for as many scholarships as you can because trust me, you will want them. Most importantly, take advantage of the short time you have in high school before you walk across the stage. Graduation comes in the blink of an eye.
