Pros And Cons Of Going To A Small College

When deciding where to go to college, size becomes a big question. Do you want to go to a big or a small school? Well, going to a small college, like Wesley, I can tell you all the pros and cons about going to a small school, to help make a decision easier, or even just relate to those who do go to a small college.

Pro: Small Class Sizes

The teachers know you by your name. There are no such things as lecture halls. You will know everyone who is in your class by his or her name. You get time with the teacher in class, and the teacher has you engage in the class rather than just the professor talking the entire time. You may get some teachers who like it that way, but at least you have a name rather than a number.

Con: You run into everyone you know/have seen before

This is not the greatest thing in the world, especially if you have dated and broken up with someone on campus, or have someone that you do not like on campus. Chance is that you will see that person at least once a day, if not even more. Also, if you run into friends, you probably will want to stop and talk to them, even though you have classes to get to.

Pro: Getting around campus in 5 minutes or less

There is no need to leave your room a half an hour before your class starts just to get there on time. No shuttles, unless there is a building or two off campus. There is just you and your two feet doing the walking around campus. You can get to a class from your room in five minutes at the most.

Con: Less housing options

There are very few housing options on campus. If you want the best housing on campus, you have to get to your housing selection night as early as you can, if the upperclassman haven't already taken it from you. Also, when it comes to your freshman year, you live with almost half of your class and that means you know practically EVERYONE you live with and have classes with.

Pro: Having/knowing all the professors by the end of your college career

There are only a certain amount of teachers on campus, because there are so few people on campus. You will know of or know personally most of the professors on campus, and may even have them for some of your classes. If you don't know them, someone else you know does, and can also tell you whether it is a good idea or not to take their classes.

Con: No transportation off campus

If you wanna go off campus, you better have a car or go somewhere close, because there is barely any transportation off campus to stores and the mall. Some schools may offer it only at one time during the week, so you will have to plan around that, and it is during the week as well.

These are not the only pros and cons of going to a small college, but these are some of them to help get a better idea of what it is really like at a small college. To sum it all up, the biggest pro/con is knowing absolutely everyone on campus, students and professors alike.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
