5 Pros And Cons Of Having A Big Family
Molly Martinez

I'm not gonna lie, I have a really really big family, so don't be shocked when I tell you but I have 13 siblings. OMG, so many kids am I right? It's really not that bad having that many siblings, I personally LOVE it. Even though I love and adore each one of my family members there are some cons too. Here are five pros and cons of having a big family.

Pros:

1. They Will ALWAYS Be There For You!!!

No matter if I'm sad, mad, or happy, my family is always there for me. Even though we don't live in the same state or even country we always communicate with each other through social media, and let me tell you our group chats get CRAZY.

2. Endless Love

Sounds super cheesy but my family has so much love for one another. Not gonna lie every time we say bye to one another someone ALWAYS cries and that someone is of course me. We all want to see each other succeed in life and we will do anything to make sure no one does something dumb.

3. You Will NEVER Be Bored

Trust me, if you have a big family you will NEVER be bored. We always do something together, whether it was just two people or everyone. My older sister would always take us to the beach, the mall, or just somewhere to eat. Also, the games you play are on a whole other level. The amount of times I played hide and go seek in the dark has scarred me for life. Watching TV is a fun activity too, because who doesn't love watching movies with your fam?!

4. You'll Learn What NOT To Do

Shoutout to my older siblings for teaching how to get out of situations and to NEVER do half of the things that Y'all did (lol love you guys). Trust me after so many of your siblings have done that one thing, it kind of catches on that maybe you shouldn't do it either.

5. Homework Help

You knew this was coming. My brothers and sisters came in clutch whenever I need help with homework especially if I had the same teacher as they did.

Cons:

1. Names...Why Are They So Hard?!?!?!?!

Manuel. Jennie. Jimmy. Tonia. Jessica. Wait, no Molly. Let me tell you whenever you need something from someone you will say everyone's name. IT WILL ALWAYS HAPPEN!!!! Even if you think you won't, chances are you probably will.

2. Closet Invasion

Oh, I didn't know my clothes were your clothes too, lol so funny. Let me tell you something, you do not understand the anger I have when I go in my closet trying to find my shirt only to find out that my sister is wearing it(you know who you are). Now don't get me wrong I'm fine with people wearing my clothes, but just ask. I know that will never happen but at least I can try.

3. Smushed Car Rides

Storytime: One summer my family and I went on a trip to Las Vegas. Everything was pretty great but let me tell you it was the most uncomfortable car ride to and from that I have ever experienced in my entire life. No leg and arm room are the worst.

4. You'll Get In Trouble For Something You Never Did

Oh, don't you just love getting in trouble for something you never did? It's great, I LOVE IT. "Molly your sister said that you broke the tv" LIES. LIES. LIES. I will also admit that I have done this before #sorrynotsorry

5. So Many Responsibilities

Now I know this isn't that bad of a con but, there is just so many responsibilities especially if you're the older one. You need to make sure that they do NOT die in your care. Being responsible is good and bad because for one it shows that you are capable of taking care of others but at the same time, things might go South.

Now, don't get me wrong I LOVE my family and I would do anything for them. They are the reason I'm the person I am today and I'm so thankful to have them. I love how extra we are and to be honest, we really need our own reality tv show.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
