The presidential campaign is gaining interest by many people because of the brawl between Donald Trump and himself. Even though it is contradicting, it provides great entertainment. There have been countless videos released by a variety of news channels, television programs, and YouTube describing Trump’s ‘one man war’. These videos explain the transition of Trump’s positions of political topics and personal opinions during interviews, debates, and rallies.
1. Pro-Life or Pro-Choice?
During an interview in 1997, Trump stated that he was very pro-choice and hated the concept of abortion. This past February during a rally, he had explained that he was very pro-life, and he felt “very strongly about it”.
2. Hillary: Yay or Nay?
Just recently Trump was interviewed and was asked what his personal thoughts were about Clinton, his answer was “I think Hillary would be a terrible president. She was the worst secretary of state in the history of the United States. Why would she be a good president?” However, in 2012 on Fox News, he said that “I think she is a terrific woman and I’m a little bias because I’ve known her for years…I like her”.3. Healthcare: Good or Bad?
Trump spurted to his people at a rally on February 27th, about how bad Obamacare is. His thoughts were that Obamacare is a total lie and that it “is a complete disaster”. His younger self said otherwise, in 1999 on Dateline NBC News, he stated that “I love universal healthcare. What’s the country all about if we are not going to take care of our sick?”4. Obama’s a good guy, right?
In 2010 on CNN, Trump stated that “I think the whole group has done a good job. At least we have an economy, you wouldn’t have had an economy if you wouldn’t have had some very drastic steps two years ago”. Interestingly enough, recently during a rally, Trump challenged himself with his viewpoint of President Obama. His words were “Some people would say he is incompetent, I would not say that. Eh, yes I would.” His ability to contradict himself within one statement is fascinating, is it not?
5. Taxes, anyone?
On MSNBC in 1999, Trump said that he would “tax people of wealth, of great wealth.” He said that it would be a great way of enabling our country into getting out of national debt. His future self has a different point of view stating that “Everyone wants to pay as little as possible.” He was then asked what his tax rate was, his response; “I don’t know, I’d pay little as possible”.
6. Cruz or No Cruz?
This past January, Trump was interviewed and was asked what his opinion was on Ted Cruz, his answer “He is a nasty guy, and nobody likes him. Nobody in congress likes him, nobody likes him anywhere once they get to know him”. But, shortly before that in December 2015, he said that “I really do like Ted Cruz, a lot”. Is Trump calling himself a ‘nobody’?
7. Iowa: Smart or Stupid?
In November 2015, one of Trump’s questions to the public of his rally was “How stupid are the people of Iowa?” He then tried to “apologize” for one of his own unintelligent spats and said in January of 2016 “I love Iowa. We’ve done really well here.” Keep telling yourself that Donald, it might come true.
8. Megyn Kelly: He likes me? He likes me not?
On America Live in 2011, Kelly asked Trump if he is a better moderator than she is. His response was “No, I could never beat you. That wouldn’t even be close. It would be no contest, you have done a great job, by the way, and I mean it”. His feelings took a turn for poor Kelly and he had said in January 2016 “I have zero respect for Megyn Kelly. I don’t think she’s very good at what she does, I think she’s highly overrated”. Kelly, kick him to the curb.
9.Jeb or Jab?
In Trump's book published in 2000, he stated that "Jeb Bush is a good man...bright, tough and principled...exactly the kind of political leader this country needs now and will very much need in the future". Recently though, Trump said "I am not a fan of Jeb Bush...he is not a deal guy, he is not a deal maker. Who would you rather have negotiating with China? Trump or Jeb?" Be careful what you ask for, Trump.
10. Pot, Good or Bad?
In 2000, Trump said "You have to legalize drugs to win that war. You have to take the profit away from these drug czars". However, Trump was recently asked if marijuana is a good or bad experiment in Colorado, his answer was "Bad, medical marijuana is another thing, but I think it's bad and I feel strongly about that".
11. Shoot?! Don't Shoot?!
Stated in Trump's 2000 book is "I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun". Lately, Trump said that "I'm a big 2nd ammendment person. Once you get into that, you start getting into a situation, the slippery slope where all of a sudden you really violate the 2nd ammendment. I don't want to do anything to violate the 2nd ammendment. To me, the 2nd ammendment is very important". Oh, boy.
The race is not over yet and it will be interesting to see what happens next with Mr. Trump. Make no mistake, the media will be watching to see what Trump does next.
