Junior year is the year that I am most stressed about. It still feels like you have so many classes to take, but such little time. You have to make sure you are on top of everything. There's so much to think about: graduating, graduate school, study abroad. You are at the point where you are nearing the end, but there's still a lot to get done. So here are the top 10 things I am promising to myself this upcoming school year.

1. I will become more involved in all my clubs & organizations.

Quality over quantity. It is important to be involved in a good amount of clubs & orgs. How much you are involved is much more important though. This year, I am only in a handful of clubs & orgs, but I plan on involving myself much more than I have been.

2. I will study my butt off.

Junior year is when you typically take some of the hardest classes of your major. With that being said, I am going to take my studying much more seriously. I am going to be in the library as often as possible.

3. I will apply for as many scholarships as possible for study abroad.

Study abroad can be very expensive. Studying abroad is something that I really want and need to do. I know that I don't really have the funds for it, so I am determined to make it work. I am going to search and search for scholarships because this is something that is very important to me.

4. I will worry more about my health.

In college, it is so easy to neglect your mental and physical health despite all of the resources on campus. This year, I am going to take my health much more serious and do whatever I have to to make sure that I am healthy in every way.

5. I will do the things I want.

College is half way over. If there is something I want to do, I will do it. I will get out of my comfort zone because soon, I won't have the same chances that I do now.

6. I will start to think about the GRE.

The summer after my junior year is when I have to take it, so I should PROBABLY start to think about it, right?

7. I will make a serious list of graduate schools I want to attend.

Grad school has been in the back of my mind all along, but it is time to get serious about it. Look into requirements for each school. Weigh the pros and cons.

8. I will be nice to everyone around me.

College is supposed to be full of ~good~ memories, so I am going to be nice to every person I come in contact with. I'm not saying I was mean before, but I wouldn't go out of my way to be nice.

9. I will be on top of things.

If there is ever a chance to get assignments completed ahead of time, I will. Whenever I get the opportunity to check an item off of my to-do list, I will. I will be doing things as soon as possible and as best I can.

10. I will be happy.

Above all things, this is what is most important. If there is something not making me happy, I will change it. If there is a time to be selfish, it is now. I promise to myself that I will be selfishly happy, no matter what.

College is a great time. College is a crazy time. It is full of mixed emotions. Among these mixed emotions, I need something to stand by. These 10 promises are what I will stand by throughout this year.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
