Posting a picture in the mind of a girl has become such a big deal. With so much social media and trying to create the “perfect” image, posting pictures now is exactly as it sounds: a process. Way more thought and time goes into putting a picture on Instagram than most girls would be proud of. The sad reality is that these things actually happen and this has become something much bigger than it should be. A guy will take one photo, and throw it up on his profile with no filter or consideration for what time of day it is to ensure the most likes. For those that can or can’t relate, here is what typically happens in the mind of a girl after a night out or on a friend’s birthday:

1. Taking the photo

This is a process of its own. If a girl ever asks you to take her photo, just expect it to actually be about 50 photos. This stage will consist of a variety of different poses, angles and lighting. It will also consist of her looking at every photo saying “OMG I’m so ugly!” until she finally finds one she likes that looks identical to the first photo taken.

2. Choosing which picture to post

This is also a strenuous procedure. A very hard decision of whether to post the 3rd picture or the 13th that looks exactly the same to any other person. Many times girlfriends will also be texted in order to help make the big decision.

3. Picking a filter

Valencia or Juno? Crema or Aden? This could really make or break the photo. Multiple screenshots will likely also be sent to best friends during this phase. Sometimes this stage even requires saving the photo as a draft and going back to reexamine later once more thought has been put into it.

4. Thinking of a caption

This one is most times the longest phase. Most girls can’t post the perfectly posed and edited picture until they have finally come up with the perfect caption to accompany it that is both funny and cute. It has to be creative ad original in order to make the picture stand out from the rest of the photos on the timeline. Sadly, many times this stage also requires help from friends in order to come up with the perfect balance of clever and cute.

5. Refreshing the number of likes

After the picture has FINALLY been posted after 4 long, strenuous stages, it’s time to just wait for the likes. For a few hours after the photo has been posted, girls will continuously check in on the number they are at compared to how long they photo has been up. They will also check to see who has liked it and keep an eye out for their crush’s name to pop up. This is the time for them to get the approval they are seeking after the long procedure they have just endured to make this the perfect photo.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
