Problems with Pokemon Go

Ironically, Pokemon Go needs to evolve.

Pokemon Go is the biggest new game, and it will probably be remembered on the level of those like Candy Crush and Angry Birds. Who knows? It might even get its own movie. But there is something certain; Pokemon Go and Goers need to evolve. So today, I'm going to address some issues with Pokemon Go and some personal preferences that I'd like to see resolved in the near future.

1. Not paying attention

Everyone from kids to adults are playing this game and walking more and more. But most of the Pokemon, Pokestops, and gyms are in the cities, not the open country. And because people are following their phones more than ever in the big city, it's easy to see how this might create some accidents because people just aren't paying attention. Pokemon Go itself has even made a banner that appears every time the app is activated, warning players to be aware of their surroundings, but unfortunately, some players still don't. I play the game only casually. I'll walk around the park or something, but, if I ever have to cross the street, I put the phone down and cross when appropriate, which is something that all Goers should practice.

2. Evolutions

For those who don't know, in Pokemon, the little animals change form when they hit a certain level or meet a certain condition. These new forms are a lot more powerful than the previous form. At least, that's how it works in other Pokemon games and in the TV shows. But in Pokemon Go, they evolve by way of applying a lot of candies. Applying candies is also how you level up the Pokemon. The only way to get these candies is catching the same creature over and over again to get more. When you have enough, you can evolve one of the creatures of that same species that you have. This isn't much of a problem for those like Weedle, Caterpie, Pidgey, and Rattatta because those are everywhere, but it is a problem for the rarer Pokemon like Snorlax, Lapras, Dragonite, and starters. I could only imagine that legendaries would be even worse.

3. Generations.

Pokemon in the series and games are divided by generations. In each of these generations, there are new Pokemon added to the games. In Generation 1, there are 151, and every generation after it has added roughly the same number. Sometimes, though, generations retroactively add an evolution or pre-evolution to an existing Pokemon. Currently, only generation 1 is out right now on Pokemon Go. And when more are released, it's going to get insane, but for the moment, the makers could go ahead and allow us to evolve our generation 1 Pokemon as far as they will go, in spite of the lacking next generation. A good example is Schyther. A preying mantis thing in the first generation is able to become some red bug in a suit of armor with claws named Scisscor. Even though it's okay that we don't have the next generation, yet, we should at least be able to evolve our Pokemon all the way because the game already acknowledges typing that exists by the 6th gen. Yes, I'm talking about the Fairy type.

4. The Next Generation

Okay, I do also want the next generation out pretty soon. That's because there are a few Pokemon I really like outside of gen 1. And I know that others are clamoring for it, too. I will be patient, though. The reason is that Pokemon Go needs to add a few mechanics to the game as well as more items first before it should go on.

5. Bugs and battery life

Although there is a bug-type Pokemon, that's not what I mean. Pokemon Go has been notorious for crashing and glitching because its servers can't keep up with the demand. Something needs to be done about that from a gaming perspective. Also, the app needs to have better battery and data saving methods because a lot of both are being drained. These additions would be a major help to players who enjoy the game. I just play casually, and it even takes a toll on my battery and data.

So will there be a movie made because of the app. Eh, maybe. I'd watch it because I'd be curious. But we do know that this game is getting people more active. I believe it's been more successful doing that in 48 hours than the Obama administration has been in 8 years at the same endeavor. There are risks, though, as people are wandering around often not paying attention. We also know that this game has gotten more people than ever involved in the franchise, and that has revived it far more than a new type or "Mega-evolution." Whether you're a die-hard or just casual user, a long-time fan or a newbie, maybe we can agree on this. Pokemon Go still has a lot of evolving to do.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
