Drama by definition is an exciting, emotional, or unexpected series of events or set of circumstances. Most of us know it as a crappy situation. Now, we all have different ways of dealing with certain types of drama. Depending on the situation, I just keep it all to myself. I feel like no one should need to hear me bickering about my problems. I used to think no one asked to hear them so I never told.
Not too long ago, I had found myself depressed and unable to want to function. I had been getting myself into unnecessary drama, and I even found myself in a pretty bad situation. I held in my feelings and shut everyone out. My close friends started to notice I wasn’t as happy or energetic as I usually was. When they confronted me about it, I would just pretend everything was fine even though it really wasn’t. I was metaphorically dying on the inside. Not too long after, I made some rash decisions that could’ve been avoided. I won't go into detail, but those decisions hurt everyone involved. If I had tried to reach out to someone about the situation, it could’ve been resolved and it wouldn't have escalated as far as it did.
I’m the type of person to take an opportunity when I see it. I clear my mind and don’t think about anything else except what is going on in that specific moment. I took my school’s theater motto, "Here, Now, This Moment," literally. It’s good for when I’m on stage and need to think as the character, but outside of being on stage it can get me into trouble. This motto is helping me overcome tough situations and escape from unnecessarily dramatic situations.Moral of the story is that reaching out to people when you’re faced with a dilemma isn’t a bad idea, and it doesn’t make you a weak-willed person. It makes you wise enough to know when you need help. We’re human. We can’t possibly face everything thrown at us alone. So appreciate those friends who are there for you and don’t take them for granted. They’re called your friends for a reason.
