The life of being a mere 5’1” is not all it's cracked up to be. From the jokes, to the awkward pictures, to the clothing mishaps, we have to put up with a lot. I speak for almost every petite girl when I say we have encounter not one, but all of these problems on a daily basis.
1. Pants are too long
Jeans, leggings, and yoga pants have only just recently in the last few years been sold in different lengths. However, trying to find the pair I want in a small length is nearly impossible. Every time I do, you can bet your money’s worth, I am buying them on the spot.
2. Never being able to reach anything
It seems as though the entire world is plotting against short girls. All of my cabinets, the shelves at grocery stores, and books at the library are just out of my reach. Usually, my stubborn personality leads me to crawling on counters or jumping up and down trying to reach it. After about ten minutes of this is usually when I give up and go find someone to get it for me.
3. Being confused for someone a lot younger
Adding a baby face to my short complex doesn’t help out at all here. I know, I know, it will “be nice when I am 45 and looking 35!” But for now, being 19 and looking 12 isn’t working in my favor.
4. Seeing in crowds
If you’re not in the front of the crowd, there’s a good chance a short girl isn’t going to be seeing any of what is going on.
5. Being converted to an arm rest
I just love it when people taller then me come up and use my head as an arm rest!!!!!
6. The jokes
“How’s the weather down there!” Ha, ha. Very funny. Never heard that one before.
7. Heels
Some girls will argue that being able to wear heels and never being taller than your date is nice, but some days (or most) I really don’t want to. But alas, unless I want to look even shorter in comparison to my friends in photos, I have to break out heels.
8. Speaking of pictures
The majority of pictures with my friends portray them towering over me, regardless of the circumstance.
9. Constantly being picked up
Is there some unwritten rule out there that during every hug I must be lifted off the floor? Granted, it can be cute at times, but when people pick me up without my consent, it stops being funny.
But as much as it may stink to be this little, you have to love your imperfections :)
