Ever since "Suicide Squad" came out in theaters people have been raving about how The Joker and Harley Quinn are relationship goals.
And me, growing up with reading the comics and watching the cartoons of them, I can say I have a pretty good grasp upon the basis of The Joker and Harley Quinn's relationship. And the point is that it is one of the most messed up relationships ever to exist. And that is putting it nicely...
People are constantly romanticizing The Joker and Harley Quinn's relationship, especially since the film "Suicide Squad" was released and it needs to stop because abusive and toxic relationships such as the one Joker and Quinn have REALLY do exist. It's a serious issue and not one to be taken lightly. I can't even count how many times the Joker has tried to kill Harley Quinn, sacrifice, hit, or use her as bait. And here are some examples from the various comics they've been in.
People are saying things that they don't fully understand the meaning of. People should be saying things like this:
not this:
I've only seen the film once, and from what I saw, it almost seemed as if it was promoting the Joker and Quinn's relationship. I mean, there was obviously no one trying to stop their relationship because if someone had, well then they were pretty much screwed because the Joker would be on them before they could even blink.
It was rumored that the scene in the film where Harley and Joker are finally together in the helicopter, when he recused her. In the early cuts of that scene it is said that he pushes her out of the helicopter, not to save her, but to kill her, and then the helicopter suddenly gets shot down. In the final of the film, the helicopter gets shot down first and then the Joker is scene pushing her out of the Helicopter to "save" her.
Personally, I believe that they filmed scenes that showed how abusive the Joker truly is, however those scenes never made it to the final cut; leading to the audience's perception of the couple to be viewed as "couple goals," when in reality they are far from couple goals.
While this is also currently and one of the most recent trending topics on social media, I don't believe some people fully grasped or understood the issue because there are still people tweeting about how they are couple goals. And while everyone is entitled to their own opinion and allowed to fight for their own opinion, to be able to do that you need to understand wat your saying. And by saying that the Joker and Harley Quinn are couple goals, people see deeper into what that relationship entails. That you support couples where abuse is tolerated. And that's just not okay.
