Having pride can mean that you think of yourself as a better individual than anyone else. You focus on your accomplishments and forget those around you. I will admit that I am guilty of having pride sometimes. Those who also admit that pride can get the best of us might find this relatable.
1. We bask in the spotlight of our accomplishments.
The trophies on your shelf, the certificates on your wall, the money in your bank account, the size of your house and how many friends you have. For some reason, we tend to compare what we have versus what others have.
2. We rank ourselves high than others.
Don't get me wrong, confidence is a good thing. Although, there is a big difference between confidence and arrogance. Hint: if you have to randomly tell others about your great accomplishments, were they really that great?
3. We begin to think that others admire us, just as much as we admire ourselves.
Yes, those around you are aware of what you have or can do. They are probably happy for you and excited for your success. Let's not overdo it.
4. We create cliques with others who are just as prideful.
Don't be that group. Nobody likes that group.
5. Our friends try to help us off our pedestal, but we don't listen.
Here's your sign, friends. Don't take it personally, good friends will keep you accountable.
6. Either our pride can hurt those around us...
7. ...Or annoy those around us.In our world of arrogance and boastfulness, sometimes we don't realize that we can be tearing our friends down. What if, instead of basking in our own spotlight of success, let's build the confidence of our friends and praise them for their accomplishments!
8. Eventually, we learn to let go of our pride.
Friends, getting rid of our pride can be a hard task. Not to mention, admitting that you are prideful can be hard itself! Boasting doesn't get us anywhere in life.
9. Hopefully, we find humility.
To have humility is to be humble. To be humble is to be courteous and respectful. When we let go of our pride and abandon our arrogance, we forget about comparing ourselves to others. It may take a few apologies and acts of kindness, but your friends and family will be glad to have you back.
