President Trump's journey started long before he announced his candidacy. Trump was a well known celebrity who often commented on his predecessor's works. (Rumor has it he's the mastermind behind 'Thanks, Obama.') Trump was a big believer in that Obama did not have an American birth certificate. Obama made a joke about it in the 2011 Presidental Correspondent's dinner, which embarrassed Trump enough to seek compensation. The only way to do so is if Obama handed him the keys to the Oval Office. So, he decided to run for president without prior public servant experience. Even if you're not a Trump supporter, you have to admit that his election has never been seen before.
For starters, he ran up against well known politicians that were destined for the White House. Come on, Christie lost all that weight just for him to not advance passed the caucuses. Trump also won the candidacy through clever tricks. Remember when Trump bought jebbush.com and redirected it to the Trump website? Who can forget how Trump took Florida from Rubio in the primaries. Like the people elected him as senator- you'd think it would have been close , instead he has to awkwardly go from DC to Florida as a loser. Trump was able to get rid of Ted Cruz by turning him from a politician to a laughing stock. Starting from The Zodiac Killer jokes and ending with Cruz eating a booger on national television- the people couldn't vote for the town fool.
Out of pure process of elimination we got Trump as the Republican nominee. From there, him and Hillary went head to head. It could be argued that Trump vs any other democratic politician could have changed the results of the 2016 election. Let's face it, Hillary was a damaged candidate, to the point that it makes you wonder about–Trump vs. Sanders, Trump vs. Biden, Trump vs. Warren, Trump vs. Booker–heck, even Al Gore could have made a comeback in 2016.
Trump also ran his campaign as if he was trying to win Prom Queen. The polls counted him out and spoke negatively of him - so he conducted his own poll in attempts to save face. While Hillary was busy paying attention to the main swing states, Trump focused on the second string states like Pennsylvania and Michigan. By raising support there and continuously visiting, he was able to turn the state red. Trump turned his campaign into a fashion statement; the MAGA hats were walking posters promoting his message. Trump also got pity votes up the wazoo. You know all the conservatives felt bad that the snowflakes pointed out Trump's double chin, and toupee. How is it possible that we knew more jokes about Trump than policies he wanted to put in place.
Trump won because we live in an indirect democracy. He didn't win the popular vote but used the electoral college to his advantage. Now as President Trump has already made a global impact in the world. He lacks diplomatic manners when addressing other leaders, he violates the Treaty of Westphalia, and worse of all he is always wearing that red tie. Trump's journey in the White House just started already filled with unorthodox behavior.
