Okay, it is the night before your big job interview, audition, or class presentation and you are FA-REAKING OUT. What if you forget your name... what if you spill coffee on your blouse?
Well do not stress one bit. You have come to the right place. In these next few paragraphs, I will officially share with you my tips to success when it comes to preparing and hyping yourself up for an audition.
1. First Step: Positive Affirmations
Yes, you may need to have a moment like from The Help and remind yourself You is Kind, You is smart, You is important. But a positive mind = a positive vibe and performance.
But that's okay! Listen at the end of the day, you are your biggest supporter. Tell yourself whatever you need to.
"I am strong."
"I am confident."
"I am a hard worker and therefore a great employee."
"I am important and worthy."
It may sound cliche, but this always helps me before an audition.
2. Step Number 2: Stop what you're doing, and focus every bit of your mind to tension in your body and your heart rate.
As you will see in my other articles -- I am a firm believer of meditation and yoga, and even if this isn't your gig it is the surefire way to help calm you down and get your head in the game and completely focused.
In our frenzied millennial lifestyle it is easy for us to constantly be on the move and forget to take a breathe.
3. Step 3: Power Pose
My dance teacher taught me this step and we watched several TED talks and it 100 percent works!
You can even go lock yourself in the bathroom and work on these and you will come out looking FIEEEERCE HUNTY.
Step 4: Pump Up Playlist
I gotta say, I am a sucker for mood appropriate playlists. I have a few for special occasions -- girls night, workout, and homework crunch time. Here are some songs sure to pump you up!
Confident -- Demi Lovato
Fighter, Tough Lover -- Christina Aguilera
Glamorous -- Fergie
Sky Full of Stars -- Coldplay
Sissy That Walk -- RuPaul
Partition, 7/11, Single Ladies -- Beyonce
Final Step: Block Out the Negativity
Whether it be the voices in your head, the haters around you, or the vibes around you.
I have one thing to say to those haters:
