A Prayer To Las Vegas

I pray.

I can't say that I know how you feel because I don't. All I can say is that I am sorry that this happened. No one deserves this. No one should go through an experience like this. No one should have lost loved ones like this. No one should have memories of a night like this. I can't do much but I can send a heartfelt prayer.

I pray for all of the ones who were caught in the middle of this tragic turn of events that no one was prepared for. I pray that you all have the support and love needed to move on. I pray that you find the strength to move forward, but never forget. I pray for everyone who turned to strangers for comfort and help. I pray for those who took everything they had to help those suffering around them. You looked to one another and didn't see a stranger, you saw a person who was also scared, and then you became family. I pray that through all of the lost, that through them, you found something that wasn't dark.

I pray for all of those who assisted and protected: firemen, policemen, doctors, nurses, and paramedics. I pray that in the moment when you felt like the world was on your shoulders, that you were able to pull through and know that you did everything in your power that you could do.

I pray that you continue to provide healthcare to those who are in the midst of a tragedy and that you do so effortlessly and with humility. I pray that through this event, you remember those you couldn't save. I pray that you remind yourselves that you did everything in your power to save them, and while they may be gone, they are no longer in pain, but in peace. I pray you watch those who survived and help them on the road to recovery.

It takes a village to overcome all of the hurt.

I pray for the those who lost their lives. I pray that they are in a better place where they don't need to worry. I pray for their families. I pray that you have your time of mourning with loved ones. I pray that you live on with their memory and never forget. I pray that someday, maybe not today, but someday you will find peace.

I pray for everyone who has been so generous in helping with recovery. I pray that your hearts stay connected even if you never met. I pray that they stay connected even when the dust settles. I pray that you all, we all, stay together to remember those who lost their lives and whose lives have been changed forever. I pray that we keep praying because there is no such thing as too many prayers.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
