My heart aches for the world and I pray that this hatred and bloodshed of innocent lives will soon come to an end.
Bastille day, 2016, was yet the 3rd attack in 18 months on France. The driver plowed through the crowd for approximately an entire mile, at about 25 miles per hour, shooting out his window along the way. 84 killed, 50 in critical condition, a dozen or so of which were children. These people wanted to celebrate their national holiday, they wanted to enjoy the company of their family and their friends. Sadly, that was not how the night seemed to end.
The recent news continuously breaks my heart. It seems like the world is becoming full of hatred, struggle, and thoughts of war, instead of thinking of peace and communication. We live in a world where violence no longer shocks us. Where we are numbed to hearing of body counts, and weaponry talked freely of over national news. It doesn't seem to be slowing down either. In my lifetime alone I've witnessed countless violent events, and it seems like they're only becoming more and more likely.
I fear that with the escalation of technology the world will be running past the point of no return, very shortly. I am fearful of what the future has to hold for the world, and I pray God is always watching, helping, protecting said future. If the world continues down the road, with nuclear weapons, it is very likely that we could all be annihilated, and very quickly at that. For years, countries have been stocking up on nuclear bombs and missiles, adding to their collection to make them look stronger than the other country and so on and so forth, until the deadliest weapons have been created. All it takes is a little miscommunication for it all to begin, just a tiny conflict, and planet earth might be in serious trouble.
In this time of need, I pray that God will help us get out of the whole we dug for ourselves. I pray for the victims, the ones who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, but most importantly I pray for humanity. I pray that we learn from our mistakes and me make a change for a better. I pray the violence will stop and eventually we can live in peace, knowing our differences are okay. I pray that conflict is delayed as long as possible, or delayed so it does not happen at all. I pray our children and our children's children do not have to grow up in a world full of hate because we were unable to change our terrible behaviors for the better.
