Positive Outcomes of Working Out

Many people start the semester each year by saying "I'm going to go to the gym every day this semester" and usually, it ends up not happening due to the amount of activities and work going on. I was one of those people that really wanted to make time to work out, but many different organizations and classes that I am involved in prevented me from really doing what I set out to do from the beginning. It's funny how being involved in so many different clubs and part of a fraternity where you end up not having time to do anything else but just those. However, I really want to put my mind to something new and become healthier and fit, which will overall give me a better outlook on life. I wanted to relay the message to all my peers in college that you should at least work out once or twice a week because it really will make you feel better whatever the reason may be (whether it be physical or mental challenges) and will actually also help you in your classes.

When I work out, sometimes it's very hard to get in the zone or even walk to the gym, since I live in the farthest apartment on campus. Despite these obstacles, I told myself that if I worked out, I'd feel better with the weather being gloomy, or be able to take my stress out from any conflicts throughout the day. Especially as I transitioned from each year, to now being a junior with a lot of work and time spending on my classes, I really put a mental challenge on myself to push myself to the gym. I also have to thank my smartwatch for telling me constantly through notifications to get more steps in or be more active throughout the day.

By working out, which can be anything from running on the treadmill or even outside, to weightlifting and doing leg exercises, doing some sort of physical activity has proven time and time again to improve overall happiness in life, as well as having a higher life expectancy and having more energy through the day without having those disgusting energy drinks. I strongly believe in cardiovascular supplements and nitroic oxide boosters that help me do a more intense workout and give me energy through healthy forms rather than drinking or eating something that make me gain weight instead of muscle mass. Having protein shakes through whey protein and combining it with different fruits really helps fuel me to push me further and harder during my workout. Overall, through easy steps and just having the right mentality (though it may be super challenging at first, you will get used to it), working out consistently can be incorporated into anyone's busy schedule, as long as you're willing to make the time for it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
