I am a self-taught photographer and I am still learning. I have also been an artistic person. Now I am a college freshman! It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I actually picked up a Canon Camera and took an actual serious photo. I would have to thank my dad, who is and has always been a inspiration to me to pick up and shoot around. I also became inspired by my photography teacher in high school, who was also a great influence on me. In the past several months, friends and family have told me that it would be a great idea to create my own website to showcase my work, and since creating a website and being able to show my work with a wider audience, it has changed my interest for the arts!
Within the past several months, my love has grown so much for photography, and I think what has helped me is some great famous photographers, Vivian Maier, Annie Leibovitz, Dorothea Lange.. and the list continues to so many more. Being able to work with new faces so often has been a BLAST for me! I enjoy portraiture photography, I like being able to whip out my 50mm lens and tell my client or model to look into the lens and do what that like, and then I just start shooting away. I tend not to look so much at the picture after i take it because I like to be surprised to see what I captured when I get home and start to edit.
It's hard for me to explain to others why I get so excited to work on portrait photography. But there's something about a great portrait that you just can't replicate, and I think that's what gives me the fire to keep going and to be more adventurous.
For me, portraiture photography isn't about posing my model, but it's about capturing them in a certain state of mind and praying that the picture didn't turn out blurry. I try to rotate out my subjects so that I can work with new faces all the time!
I have several big portraiture photography projects that I hope to achieve in the next several months! So if anyone is interested in the Chicagoland area, let me know! :)
Below you will find several of my favorite portraits that I have taken

Jess
