Politics. When it comes to the definition, the dictionary states "the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power." When it comes to controlling the future of our country, politics becomes less of an "activity" and more of a miserable and defeating fight. The government in which the United States is run under gives us the amazing opportunity to take the future in our hands, giving us the given right to vote and ban together with people who believe in similar things as we do to create something for our kids and our kids' kids one day to live in.
When the Presidential race tears a large divide between a "crude and rude" businessman and a very "insightful, yet foolish" woman, people will argue, people will protest, people will fight, cry, bleed because of two people who everyone thinks deserves to run the country, it may seem like the world is being set on fire. I've seen more bridges burned than put up in the past couple of months. I've seen friendships die, and I've feared for my own friendships when it came to discussing political views. When people feel like two candidates are not fit to run the country, people decide to not vote, but when you decide to withhold your vote for the future, you are letting the enemy or enemies win. You are enabling the candidate(s) you solely don't believe are good enough to run your country, and you are allowing your future as well as others' futures to fall under that treacherous reign. In this situation, would you rather have a sweet potato or a baked potato run your country? It's better to have made a decision against the candidate that you believe is less fit for the White House fail to achieve the seat they are so desperately ready to sit in.
Politics burns bridges. As we all live in the same country, wanting the same as others, why are we constantly fighting over two people and why are we not looking at the details in the pictures. Plans are better when there are details and plans can be fulfilled when there is time put into them. When someone consistently spews lies, how can you truly trust them to make your country great? How can you trust them to take your country forward? You cannot let someone blindly run the country in hopes that they can take us forward in a positive step. Not every candidate is a perfect fit like a shoe that is just the right size for your foot. Sometimes it's a little snug, sometimes it's a little big, and it's a small price to pay when it comes to your true desire of wanting those shoes. You would not buy a pair of shoes that fits just right but you hate how they look on your feet.
Do not let the Presidential campaigns destroy your bridges. Do not let them destroy your country and your future. Do not let them take apart someone else's hard work and do not let it defeat you. Do not let your bridge be burned without you even knowing. Make a change, take a chance, put your faith in something that's better than nothing.
