They wake up every morning knowing they have a long 12-hour day ahead of them. They put on a badge knowing it makes them a target. They walk out the door knowing they may not come back. They are police officers, and everyday they voluntarily put their lives on the line for you and I.
The pay is not good, the hours are long, and the job is hard. The majority of people who choose to be cops choose to do so because they want to protect people, not harm people. However, they have to put their safety and the safety of others in the community first before being concerned about the well-being of a dangerous criminal.
The amount of police offers killed as of lately is outrageous and sickening. These people take an oath to serve and to protect. But no one is there to protect them. Their job is not an easy one. Making the life-changing decision to pull the trigger is not an easy one. When their life or the lives of others are in danger, they make the right decision by pulling the trigger. I think anyone in danger would have the guts to do it. But it is not easy. They do not want to kill. But sometimes that is what their job involves.
These men and women are being killed everyday for simply doing their job.
For just wearing a badge.
For no reason other than that they are a police officer.
The line of duty is getting more and more dangerous. Cops are becoming afraid to do what they are trained to do. Too many loud voices are shouting that cops are murderers and deserve to die just for being police officers. But who do you think they will call first the moment they end up in a dangerous situation?
And where is the White House's input? Why can Obama send three White House representatives to the funeral of a teenage thug who attacked a police offer and was shot, but he does not even have a comment about the countless cops being murdered across the country in the name of "Black Lives Matter?" Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream never involved the rampant murder of police officers. Not speaking up about the problem or standing against it is just as bad as the problem itself; the behavior is condoned. Einstein said, "The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it."
Not speaking out against evil is allowing evil.
Not saying anything is just as bad as participating in it.
This cop-killing frenzy in America needs to stop. Not only is it illegal and careless, but it is also extremely disrespectful to the people who sign up to put their lives on the line for each and every citizen of the city they have chosen to serve and protect. Thank a cop for their service to your community. Don't look on them in disgust; express your gratitude to them for being willing to protect you and put your life before their own any day, any time.
Police lives matter.
