You may not believe it, you may not care for it, or you may not even see it, but it's real and it's happening today, tomorrow, and every upcoming day. Global warming is a real thing, and we don't need anymore proof than we already have from the polar bears who are living this scary reality.
Polar bears need ice in order to live. Floating glaciers are how they get their food, and that is how they travel from one area to another. 99% of these glaciers in the northern hemisphere are receding. The glaciers that are available have shrunk so much that they are on land only, making it nearly impossible for polar bears to get the food they need.
There are said to be three simple ways to help with this issue, it may not stop it altogether but every little bit can help. Decreasing the amount of seafood we buy and eat may help due to the fact that the fishing industry is detrimental to our oceans by using dangerous fishing methods such as bottom-trawling. Another way is one we all know of and know of well is reducing plastic waste. 8.8 million tons of plastic waste end up in our oceans every year which threatens many species. The third way to help with the global warming problem is eating less meat and dairy. Raising animals for meat and dairy products produces more greenhouse gas emissions which is, of course, detrimental to animal species around the world.
Polar bears continue to prove that global warming does exist and, unfortunately, this issue is not talked about enough, so not enough is being done to solve this problem. Taking little steps is better than none, and it is important now more than ever, for the polar bears, and even for us, to take these steps to help our planet.
