If you've been on Facebook or any social media last week, you've seen the massive number of "Pokemon GO" posts. You may even have been playing the game and walking around on your phone more than ever before. How much people have been posting about the game has been getting annoying, but what's worse is the safety problems its been causing.

People have been attacked while playing the game late at night. Turns out going out late at night on the streets to go Pokemon hunting doesn't end well. I've read tons of articles last week on people getting hurt, in every case it was late at night when not many people were around. The game has made people forget it is not safe to go out at night alone, especially in sketchy places.

Part of this is because of the lure system in the game. There are places on the game called PokeStops based off of "landmarks" in the area, such as fountains, signs, etc. Some will drop them at night looking to cause trouble. There have been reports of robbery, attacks and all kinds of crime. Players seeing a lure at a strange hour or place should stay clear of it. A Reddit user saw a bad-looking place at night with a friend, and they ended up deciding to drive away once seeing how dark it was. Players need to use their best judgement next time they see a lure on that stop at the dark park just a few minutes away when it's midnight.

Another problem the game has faced is players choosing to stare at their phone, leaving them to become unaware of their surroundings. This is why the loading screen when you load the game up tells you to be aware. Looking around and knowing what is around you could save your life, and is worth more than catching a rare Pokemon. Putting yourself in danger just for a game is ridiculous. Here is a video where someone falls in water due to them not paying attention of course.

I guess we should've expected "Pokemon GO" to cause trouble. The game causes people to stare at their phones too much, go to places at night when they shouldn't or whatever the next case will be. All I have to say is that people playing need to think and be more careful. Even if you don't play, get the attention of those you see or know if you notice them not making the best decisions. Let's be smarter when it comes to Pokemon catching.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
