Pokémon Go has sparked worldwide interest. It has brought complete strangers together to enjoy the world of Pokémon. For long time fans or new-comers, it has brought a sense of community back into cities, suburbs and rural areas. Almost everyone is in love with the innovational app, Pokémon GO. However, with all good things, there is always a bad and ugly side to them...
The Good:
Community
As I said, Pokémon Go has brought entire communities together. Many people, especially those who are antisocial and/or shy, have opened the door and went outside to catch digital monsters. Along the way, they have struck up conversations with strangers about the game. Usually the conversation starts with a single question, "Are you playing Pokémon Go?" Usually the answer is yes, so the conversation goes on... "What team are you on?" or "What Pokémon have you caught?" and the list goes on. Without Pokémon Go, would this be happening? Absolutely not! If anything they'd just walk right by each other and not give it a second thought. With the new game, people are connecting and making new friends.
With Pokémon Go, the player actually has to travel around their environment to catch new Pokémon. Unless you're sat at a Pokéstop with a lure, the game usually won't show you new Pokémon in the area. So, the game actually promotes walking, running and/or biking. It's amazing how people's will to "catch 'em all" has such an impact on their motivation to move.
The Bad
Glitches and Bugs
With a new app and worldwide use, brings glitches to the game. Obviously the bugs are still being worked out, but here are some of things that are mildly inconvenient. When Team Rocket has taken over the servers, so they are down temporarily. Oh, how about when you capture the Pokémon, but the screen just slowly zooms in on your Pokéball and nothing happens. I'm just going to add this on here... I want a feature where you can trade and battle your friends. Can that be a thing already?
The Ugly
Oblivious Nimrods
As we have seen, there are some people who don't read the warning when the game first loads. Some people aren't paying attention to what's going on around them. For example, the other day a girl walked in the middle of the street to catch a Pokémon... OR how about the guy who stopped his car in the middle of the highway to catch a Pikachu?! Ugh, some folks are just idiotic... Remember to always pay attention to your surroundings. You don't have to be looking at your phone the whole time to know when a Pokémon is nearby. Make sure you're in a safe spot before you catch a Pokémon. For those who cruise and play, never Pokémon and Drive!
Obviously the good outweighs the bad and the ugly. The glitches can be fixed over time and new features will be added. However, you can't get rid of stupid... Just try to remind people to watch out if they appear to be in any immediate danger. Well, that's all for this article... Now, I'm going to play some Pokémon Go because "I want to be the very best, like no one ever was." Happy hunting!
