Poetry On Odyssey: Learning To 'Fall' In Love with Fall

I'm not a fan of cooler air,

But pumpkin picking is my favorite thing, I swear.

I don't like the sound of the leaves crunching under me,

But then again, I can wear my favorite jeans, some with holes in the knee.

Unfortunately, it gets dark out earlier,

Luckily, without the humidity, my hair doesn't get curlier.

I may not be fond of the chilly breeze,

but it's hot chocolate season, yes, please!

Scary things are not up my alley,

Yet I love football games and the big rally!

Some say I'm too old to dress up to trick-or-treat...

Fair enough, then the left-over candy is all mine to eat!

Pumpkin spice isn't my cup of tea,

It's that time of year to go on a fall shopping spree!

Big sweaters, flannels, baggy sweatpants, and hair in a messy bun...

Carving pumpkins with your closest friends is certainly my definition of fun.

Temperatures will continue to drop,

And I'll continue to buy fuzzy socks, no I won't stop.

The scent of comfort foods fill the kitchen,

With a messy clean up after a delicious, meal I ask others to pitch in!

I don't like apples much,

But pour caramel on an apple, it's just the right touch!

There's nothing like my mom's fresh chicken noodle soup on a brisk rainy day

It's that time of year to break out the rain boots as I think rain, rain, go away

After a long day, sit down with a classic Halloween movie and your favorite snack,

Turn the fireplace on and hear the wood crack.

I may not be the biggest fan of this season overall,

But I'm learning to fall in love with fall.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
