'Twas the Night Before Finals...

And every college student could relate...

'Twas the Night Before Finals...

‘Twas the night before finals, when all ‘cross the quad,

Every student was stirring, (and praying to God);

Their lives were a mess as they started to scramble,

And hoped that this “cram sesh” was indeed a good gamble.

Not a student was nestled all snug in a bed,

Only visions of failing flashed through every head.

With me in my sweats and him in his PJs,

Neither of us would see sleep for a few days.

When next to my head there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the closet I flew like a flash,

Tore open the doors with a slam and a crash.

I threw on my shoes, grabbed my backpack, and ran,

For I accidentally fell asleep, and was late for the exam!

I burst through the classroom door and swiftly sat down,

And I took a deep breath, and started looking around.

The professor looked somewhat pleased, not angry.

This behavior was odd; why was my prof acting so strangely?

When what to my wondering eyes did appear,

But a clock that said I was a minute in the clear!

With a great big sigh so silent and quick,

I now felt that I was no longer going to be sick.

More rapid than eagles the papers they came,

And the prof whistled, and shouted, and called us by name:

"Now, Nathan! now, Julie! now Abby and Hannah!

Here, Nello! here, Rachel! here, AZ and Banna!

To the top of the paper! there’s no time to stall!

Good luck to you! luck to you! luck to you all!"

'As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;'

So too was I violently swept up and flung

Into the storm of a test, as soon as it’d begun—

And then, in a twinkling, I saw on the sheet

The very last question, which I gladly did meet.

I gathered my stuff, and was turning around,

When in my direction came the prof with a bound.

Dressed in a big, warm smile, from head to toe,

My professor collected the test and I proceeded to go;

I walked back to my room with a weight off my chest,

And I dropped my bag, and I sat down to rest.

Days came and days went, with finals galore,

But before I even knew it, finals were no more!

All the stress and exhaustion was now at an end,

And once again I could just chill with my friends.

And now, with glad tidings and to regain my might—

“Happy Christmas break to all, and to all a good night!”

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
