Let it be known that Taylor Swift is my soul sister. As a girl who loves both to love and be loved, I, too, have found myself in some less-than-ideal relationship situations thus far in my young adult years. If you’re like me and my girl Tay, you know that this merely comes with the territory of being a “good girl” who puts her heart on the line. Although not every relationship we enter into can work out in the end, we can still take away life lessons from each. The memories might fade (probably due to sheer force of will in order to protect our sanity), but when we let people in, they really do make a lasting impact on our hearts.
To the six gentlemen whom I have been in relatively long-lasting, “Facebook Official” relationships with, these haiku (5-7-5 syllable pattern) poems are for you. Thank you for testing my faith in humanity because that sort of thing builds character, I think.
And to the seventh mystery gentleman not included in this list: I don’t know who you are, or when we will meet -- or wherever in the world you could be at this very moment. I don’t know what you are going to be like, exactly. I mean, based on what I’m looking for, I could make some guesses about your values as a person (loyalty and kindness), your favorite things in life (pizza and pug dogs), the things you do for fun (reading as many books as humanly possible). But what I do know is that I cannot wait to love you, whoever you are. Mainly because if things actually work out, then I won’t have to write another one of these sassy haikus (wink!).
Bae one.
Non-consensual;
Still see you in my nightmares!
My body is mine.
Bae two.
You were my first love;
Why did you throw things so much?
I loved half of you.
Bae three.
Selfish older boy;
Intimidated by brains!
Couch potato-chic.
Bae four.
Navy Sailor guy;
Glad you’re in Hawaii now!
Small mind; smaller heart.
Bae five.
Engineer for boats;
Understood math but not life!
You loved Rubix Cubes.
Bae six.
You were my best friend;
Loved you more than life itself!
You were rude AF.
