The most important thing I learned is that success is not linear, and definitely does not come without challenges.

Recently during the day, I decided to stop listening to music and start listening to podcasts while I was doing mindless work. I've never been that big of a fan of podcasts, but I have listened to a couple of them on and off for several years. Nevertheless, Spotify recommended some pretty good ones, which I thoroughly enjoy and thought I would share with you.

1. The Goal Digger Podcast by Jenna Kutcher

This is a show hosted by marketing influencer, Jenna Kutcher, on how to build your personal brand, find your dream job, and live your best life (among other things). Her episodes generally include interviews with a variety of women that achieved their goals or are a reflection on her own journey. The most important thing I learned is that success is not linear and definitely does not come without challenges. However, we all must persevere if we want to reach our goals. Overall, Jenna's peppy voice and kind message is a great way to stay motivated for your day (and for your life).

2. The Daily Boost by Scott Smith

I find this podcast especially good for starting my mornings at work. I'll admit, I do tend to tune out some of what he says. But, I do catch the most insightful stuff! For example, this morning Scott mentioned something along the lines of "there is no elevator to success, there are only stairs." And it's true. There is no easy way to success. It's one step at a time!

3. On Being by Krista Tippett

This podcast is more about the details of life than about career motivation. To my knowledge, the host, Krista Tippett, interviews different individuals about an assortment of different areas. For example, the other day, I listened to her interview with Yo-Yo Ma, the famous cellist, about what music means to him. The content as well as the title ("Music Happens Between the Notes") of the podcast were incredibly interesting and demonstrated how differently we as humans perceive music.

I hope you give these a listen and enjoy them as much as I do.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
