"Pocket Points" is a rapidly growing app for college students. In early 2015, there were only two universities that were supported by Pocket Points. It was started by students at Chico State University in Northern California.
Now, the app is spreading to countless colleges. The premise is simple. Download the app, lock your phone during class and earn rewards for not using your cell phone while in class. These rewards range from discounts to free pizzas and everything in-between.
The more people that are on your campus, the more points you will earn. Pocket points also offers specials such as 2X Tuesdays, where students can earn double points. When you first download the app, you start out with 15 points,
The best part about Pocket Points, is that it will work anywhere on your college campus. Whether you are in class, studying at the library or in the student union, you can earn points. The user accumulates points that can be spent both locally, and online. However, the app denies access from 1 A.M.-7 A.M. every day.
For example, I attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Pocket Points currently offers 16 local businesses where I can spend my pocket points at, including: Dozo Sushi grill & Lounge, Jersey Mike's, Juice Stop, Panda Express, Toppers Pizza, The University Bookstore and more! The majority of the businesses supported by Pocket Points are near campus, and easily accessed. On top of all of these, Pocket Points offers a plethora of online discounts.
Right now, there are 32 online businesses that offer Pocket Points. You can earn 10% off store-wide with Southern Marsh, 30% off a pair of Parkman sunglasses, free shipping with COAST Apparel, and much more.
If you are a college student and you do not have this app, you are missing out. Pocket Points is now available for both Apple and Android products.
