Don't get me wrong, I'm the kind of person who enjoys the warm weather. I generally don't like to go outside and find myself freezing to death, so I'll take any 60-degree afternoon I can get. On the one hand, it's nice to not have to go outside in February with a large coat. But on the other hand, weather is not supposed to do this.
The major side effect with having more consistently warm weather is that it harms the regulation of Earth's temperature. Life has sustained on Earth for millions of years because of the fact that it has had just the right environmental conditions to support living animals and plants. And we're now ruining that by releasing toxic chemicals into the atmosphere that destroy the Earth's ozone layer! And cold weather seems even more unpleasant to us because it now comes less often.
Uncomfortably freezing weather still exists, but that doesn't mean the Earth's temperatures aren't rising! And yet people still use it as an excuse to deny global warming. The arbitrary detail that an organism-specific molecule can physically exist below the arbitrary temperature of 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
And then there are the unbearably hot summers! We're getting temperatures of over 100 degrees in places like New York City where everything around you absorbs all of the sun's heat. We're always turning on our air conditioners, and even that barely works most of the time.
Look, you can enjoy the warm, non-freezing February weather all you want as long as it's here. But just keep in mind where it's coming from, and don't get too attached to it because it'll be over by the time we get to the month of May.
