As the fall season begins to wind down many are looking for places to enjoy the last bit of this weather. In a city like New York, many areas are enjoyable at all times of the year, but some carry a certain atmosphere depending on the season.
1. New York Botanical Garden
Home to the Mertz Library and various Gardens , the NYBG offers a large array of local, imported and endangered plant life. With the backdrop of the fall season, it is a perfect time to take in the beautiful colors that are on display. Located at 2900 Southern Boulevard in the Bronx, the garden is easily accessible by Subway and the Metro North.
2. Luna Park @ Coney Island
Visiting Coney Island is a staple for many New Yorkers. Luna park replaced Astro World as Coney Island's premier amusement park back in 2010. Luna Park is host to many different rollercoasters including the Cyclone which turned 90 this year. Next to the iconic Riegelmann Boardwalk and the beach this a perfect location to have fun and relax before Winter sets in. Directions to Luna Park can be found here. 3. The High Line
The Highline is a decommissioned train line repurposed as a public park. The entirety of the former train line has multiple pieces of art and food outlets. This attraction will certainly be a great visit for the winter, however, the fall will certainly have a different type of ambiance during the Fall.
4. Queens County Farm Museum
The Queens County Farm Museum is one of the last pieces of farmland in the city. The farm hosts multiple events throughout the year which can be found here. The farm hosts a "wildlife weekend" event which is a patron favorite.
5. The Bronx Zoo
The Bronx Zoo hosts over 6,000 animals thanks to the Wildlife Conservation Fund. But to see all that the zoo has to offer you must go before winter. the zoo hosts events weekly as well as seasonally themed events. Check out their "Boo at the Zoo" event this Halloween season.
6. Top of the Rock
Top of the Rock is a collection of three observation decks located on top of the famous Rockefeller center. From the three observation decks, you can see Central Park, Downtown Manhatten, as well as many skyscrapers in Midtown. access to Top of the Rock can be bundled with a tour of Rockefeller center itself.
7. The Mall and Literary Walk aka the "Promenade"
This walkway or mall is considered an iconic part of Central Park. It features statues of some of histories greatest writers. In the fall the Oaks that line the sides of the mall turn the traditional orange, brown and red that follows fall's color scheme.
