As a California resident, sometimes it’s a bit shameful to admit that you’re being a tourist in your own city. However, there are just some places in Los Angeles that you have to continue to revisit to fully appreciate them in all their glory and uniqueness. Here are some of my personal favorites that I’d like to share — I’m always willing to impart my LA wisdom.

1. Santa Monica Pier


2. The Hollywood sign and accompanying Runyon Canyon hike


3. 3rd Street Promenade


4. Malibu Creek State Park

(Nothing like a cool hike and watering hole to jump in to from varying cliff heights!)


5. Griffith Observatory


6. Six Flags Magic Mountain


7. Venice — Boardwalk, Muscle Beach, and Canals


8. Downtown LA


9. Disneyland


10. Sea World

11. LACMA Museum


12. Chinese Theater


13. Hollywood Walk of Fame

16. Aquarium of the Pacific


17. The Getty Center

20. The beach — literally, ANY beach
