I would definitely call myself a pizza fan. I enjoy eating pizza as long as it does not contain an unnecessary amount of vegetables. 'Cause let's be real, you shouldn't eat pizza for nutritional value. My time at Graceland has greatly increased my pizza intake. Pizza is clearly a staple food for college life. In Lamoni we have a variety of options to enjoy a slice.
1. Kum & Go
This gas station is a common stop for late-night snacking, but their pizza is hit-or-miss. It usually isn't the greatest. If you go past midnight there is rarely any pizza left. I do suggest their pizza on Wednesday when it's a dollar. Just go before they run out.
2. Pizza Hut
This is a classic pizza place that you probably also have in your hometown. You get exactly what you expect. Decent food and really good deals on large quantities. Getting a Dinner Box is a good idea. Their wings are also bomb. I suggest their honey BBQ and some cheese breadsticks. Pizza Hut delivers for those weekends when walking to the commons would require an extended time out of bed and social interactions that you just aren't prepared for. And Graceland students should know that they take GU bucks, which is very convenient.
3. Pizza Shack
This is an iconic restaurant for the Graceland area. Alumni from all over have been here (under whatever form of management). They have good pizza, but it's better to go with friends and family. Sometimes it can take forever, but if you are with great people it's a good excuse to spend more time together. They have the fancier pizza that is a little more individualistic to a small restaurant. Their Demon pizza is delicious but the Chicken Alfredo is life. When the Pizza Shack is a midnight munchies location I'm always in attendance.
4. Casey's
I was introduced to the beauty of Casey's this year when the Lamoni Casey's became 24 hours. This has probably been one of the greatest things to happen this year because their pizza is amazing. It is gas station pizza, but at 2 a.m. that's exactly the kind of pizza you want. I almost finished eating a slice of Casey's pizza on the less-than-three-minute drive back to campus. (Kum & Go still wins in best icees tho.)
As I've said before, we are only young once and pizza makes people happy. So enjoy as much pizza as you can!
