It takes a lot to keep a relationship going with anyone, let alone someone who is gone throughout the day usually unable to communicate. However, any good relationship is well worth the struggle. UCM is known for Aviation. The pilots here know each other pretty well due to having to fly together all the time and having no other time on their hands to make friends who aren't pilots. So with all the Aviation students knowing each other well...the girlfriends know each other too. Therefore I'm not alone in this. Every pilot's girlfriend deals with these eight struggles.
1. Getting asked where he is
Our favorite question to be asked and our answer is most commonly, "I don't know, probably flying." We know you want a better answer or at least a different one every once in a while, but we are sorry we can't give you one.

2. Getting asked the follow up question
"Where is he flying to?" And again our answer would have to be, "I don't know." We are very good at answering with "I don't know."
3. Being asked if you are scared
Not really, normally we don't think twice about him flying until you bring it up. But no we don't get scared because it is a lot safer than driving, and they make sure we know it is much safer. All we can do is say I love you and hope he is okay.
4. When will he be home
And again with the oh so famous answer.. "I don't know"
Yes, just because we don't see each other daily or hourly and just because we don't text or talk everyday all the time doesn't mean broke up, it just means he is busy. We don't have to see each other or talk everyday to know that we love each other.
5. Relationship status
6. When we do talk
It is mainly about flying and planes. Such an interesting topic isn't it? We have gotten used to it and even though we aren't pilots and don't know as much as they do we can still hold a conversation about planes.
7. Marriage questions
This has to be our favorite question, "Are you going to get engaged in an airplane?" And our famous quote "I don't know." We may or may not get engaged in an airplane, we don't know. Do you even know where you are getting engaged? Just because our boyfriend is a pilot doesn't mean we have to get engaged in a plane. But we will let you know when and where we get engaged at, don't you worry.
8. Loving every moment of it
The excitement, the new stories, the respect, the love, it is all worth it. Here are a few things you just can't help but love them for: they are great at coming home and having stories to tell about what happened in the air, they are never have a dull moment, they are funny and always willing to try something new, they have the up most respect, they have had to work hard to get where they are and they aren't here to put people down. They will always respect and be your biggest supporter because you are his biggest support and they love you more than you can imagine, they have so much love and always continue you to show it.
