You've probably noticed that most, if not all people use their phone's camera to take pictures at concerts. Some people are against the use of phones and some aren't. Either way, neither side is more right than the other because there are pros and cons to each side.
Pictures can last a lifetime, therefore, they're important to have because it can be hard to remember a concert you may have went to years ago without any pictures to jog your memory and to reminisce on how great that night was. I think it's acceptable to take pictures on your phone during a concert if it is done in a respected manner.
However, an issue with this is that many people claim you can't enjoy the "moment" if you're looking through your camera the entire time. This is true. I've seen way too many people record videos through the ENTIRE concert without ever putting it down (and no, I'm not exaggerating, I wish I was.) I see this is as being slightly disrespectful to others only because people can't see if you're camera is up in the air the entire night. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you shouldn't record videos at all, I'm simply stating that if you must, record for at least half a minute. That way you can at least get the chorus of the song.
Personally, what I tend to do is take pictures during the first couple
of songs that are performed and then put my phone away. I can usually take around 70 pictures through at least three songs, if you just keep clicking, it'll go by fairly quickly. This way I will
have the memories without blocking other people's view with my arms up. When it comes to recording videos, I normally take one 30 second video throughout the entire concert. I personally prefer pictures over videos, but that's just a personal preference. This also helps save storage!
Take pictures and record videos, just please, try not do it the entire time because what's the point of going to a concert if you're going to look through a screen instead of the actual person? You might as well stay home and watch them on YouTube.
