How we are Holding Up

For those of you who did not read the author notes, part 14 is delayed temporarily. As for why, that is the purpose of this article. I am busy. That is the long and short of it. Between classes, homework, theatre work, and coordinating times to work with Charlotte, some updates have been hard-pressed to make it in on time. Every section takes time to write out and Charlotte goes out of her way to make incredibly well-polished art for most, if not all of them. Between the two of us, each section is several hours of work. And we have to balance that effort with all the other necessary things and leave time to wind down and relax. My motto may be “die like Mozart” but Charlotte insists I do not make this a reality for some silly reason. Just because we do need to take breaks does not mean we do nothing. Plenty of worldbuilding and plot development happens even in just casual conversations. One struggle we have at the moment is deciding on what to spotlight after part 15. Yes, there will be another pause in the story soon. However it will provide background information or exposition that cannot be smoothly fit into the narrative at the current moment. If there is something in particular you would like expounded on, feel free to comment what it is. I might as well make a poll out of it since I am telling you this. I have said my piece, time for Charlotte to share hers. —Kolten Stopsen

Hello fellow readers and art lovers, this is your co-pilot speaking. Please remain in your seats, the plot will be taking off shortly. There seems to have been some unexpected rough patches on the track, causing a short delay. However, we will continue to give updates on alternative progress, and provide snacks and beverages. Flight attendant analogies aside, I've had my part-time job pick up and turn into more of a full-time, and I have had to become a little more engulfed by family matters, thus taking away from my time to doodle and be a background voice for writing. Just like Odd (Kolten), I am also attempting to keep up with my schooling through all of this. Which I'm finding to be more aggravating than expected. My education schedule is a bit more flexible and under my control than Odd's, so I will still be trying to find time to work comfortably. In all, we're very busy, and still very new and definitely under prepared, but we're still giving it our best all the same. My only real personal complaint is that I have dwindled on my art quality to try and help with time consumption, but I'm still doing it. I tried, therefore you can't judge me! Kolten and I will continue to work, and soon I'm hoping to have a bit of relaxation time to put towards drawing and storyboarding. But it will be a personal trip, so nothing crazy productive will be happening. I hope to hear a bit from some of the readers over this small pause, and see if there is anything I, or Odd, need to critique. I'm also willing to take art suggestions! If I get those, I might be willing to put a bit more time and love into the pictures. Now enjoy your package of peanuts while we get this shit on track. —Charlotte Tapp

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
