I have some things to be thankful for.

These past few weeks have been pretty rough for me. I don't know why, it might stress catching up to me or just me over thinking and worrying about little things. One thing that I have needed to do for a long time, but I needed to do this. Here are some thank yoius I need to write to the people in my life or places that have changed me for the better. These are in no order, just who I can think of off the top of my head.

First, I need to thank my parents. Mom and Dad, you have seen me at both my highs and lows. You both have given me advice on women, life, and pushed me to my best at Tae Kwan Do (even if it was to make a kid cry to win gold at state games). I know I don't come home as much as I should, but I will try and come once I get done being busy.

My brother, Fred: You have been my best friend for 20 years. You always know how to make me laugh and know when I am being not the sharpest tool in the shed. Thank you for advice that mom and dad can't give me. You always tell me that you are proud of me and I never do the same. The reason being is that I don't need to say it, because I always know that I will be proud of you no matter what.

Dan the Man: Thank you for being one of my voices of reason and knowing how to make me laugh on a bad day. You are an awesome friend and a great author.

Drew Shuman: You have been my best friend since probably kindergarten. Thank you for putting up with my crap for years. Don't know what I would have done if I had never met you.

Doane Theatre Department: Thank you for the countless oppertunities to grow myself as a thespian. You have gradually taught me to believe in myself and brought me back to why I love theatre after it had been lost in the last two years of high school. I don't know what I would have done if I had gone to UNL or some other big school, because I probably would not have done theatre.

Men of Alpha Omega: Brandon, Kaleb, Josh, Andrew, Drew, Aaron, Austin, Chandler, Ky, Blakemore. You guys have seen me do some stupid stuff, but you are also there to call me out on that. Thank you for putting up with my crap and I don't know what I would do without you guys. You have saved my life mulitiple times and told me to take oppertunities that I wouldn't have taken. 1, 2.

Mike and Jessica Cochnar: Thank you for opening up your home for five weeks this summer, even though some people thought I was homeless. Saying I was King Triton in "The Little Mermaid JR." was probably the best thing for me, because I am now on improv team and have a lot more confidence in myself. I hope to come out next summer, if I can do other things besides babysit Ophelia. :)

Class Act Family: Thank you for being such a warming family to an outsider.

The people that I have yet to meet: Thank you for shaping who I will become. You haven't met me, but I like "Star Wars".

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
