When it comes to the mayhem of college, we all need a small break from it. We all wanted to go off to college and spread our wings until we realized that this wasn’t going to be all burritos and parties. College can take a stressful toll on us as students and what is our one saving grace? Going back to our home town for a weekend to shake off the stress we’ve been going through.
There is a refreshing feeling about returning home after a few months of classes and social outings. You get to wind down and return to a stress free environment where the only thing you really need to worry about is making it back home on Sunday afternoon depending on your work load for school and class schedule on Monday. You get to lay on your couch and watch Netflix while your parents just sit back and watch you like an art exhibit that’s only going to be in town for roughly 48 hours. They feed you and do your laundry. They let you be and the other added perk is if your old friends (if you enjoy their company, that is) are in town you can catch up. For the most part though we most likely wont. If you’re over 21 you can go enjoy the night life in your hometown or maybe you’d just rather stay in and hang out with your dog that always thinks you died every time you leave for college at the beginning of each semester. That’s the beauty of going home. For a brief weekend the world is your oyster! You can do whatever you so desire.
The possibilities are endless. You can go to your favorite restaurant that isn’t located in your college town that you’ve missed so dearly and splurge on it because you have no idea when you’ll ever see this beautiful place again. Probably the best perk is that you most likely don’t have to spend a dime of your own money because your parents “are so happy that their baby is back in town and they can’t wait to spoil them!” No spending, no problem. How about your bed? Yeah that thing is a beauty in its own, coming home to it being made dropping your bags along with your problems and diving in it. We know that you can do whatever you so desire, but honestly you’ll probably just become one with your couch. Curl up in a blanket and binge watch your favorite show on Netflix. All based off the soul reason that you just can. The stress free environment makes you think “why the hell did I ever leave?” and then you remember that your high school days were filled with chores and you were ruled by your parents will and realize that school work is just a small price to pay when you have your freedom. So on Sunday you pack with a smile that you came but also a smile that you get to go back to they reckless fun that you and every college student across the country enjoys so much.
