You have a second closet on campus.
Whether she likes it or not, her closet is your closet. Whenever you need shoes or a skirt for a random occasion, you go to her before stopping by the local Target. It's like shopping but without having to pay for anything.
You have someone you can always rant to and they actually know the people you talk about.
Every so often you get to a point in the semester where you need to get all of your annoyances out of your system and just need to talk to someone. Having a sibling on campus means you can do just that and completely trust that what you say won't be repeated. Not to mention they actually know who you talk about. It's a luxury honestly.
If they have a car on campus, you have a car on campus.
Being a first year student, I'm not allowed to have a car on campus. But with my sister being a senior, she has one. It comes in handy when you need to buy groceries or just want to eat off campus.
You share a lot of friends.
Most of your sister's friends already know you and are likely eager to be friends with you too. If your sister is awesome, you're likely to be twice as awesome and her friends are aware of that.
You have someone to drive to and from school with.
Going back home or going back to school becomes way less boring since you don't have to drive alone. You have someone to talk to the whole time or to sing as loud as you can to Justin Bieber's newest song.
You always have someone to get lunch or dinner with (whether they want to or not).
If you can't find anyone to eat with for a meal, you can always hit up your sibling and they will be there to get gross campus food in a heart beat. It's almost like a unwritten rule to not let your sibling eat alone.
You have your very own personal cheerleader on campus.
Whether you play on a sports team or are running a campus event, you can always count on your sibling to be there to cheer you on and to support you.
By the end of your first few months at college together, you get to know them better than you did in the first 18 years of your life.
College is where people find themselves and become who they truly are as adults. Your sibling will act like their normal self around you and their friends and at first it's honestly super weird. But you quickly get to know her for who she is and appreciate your relationship even more. It brings you two closer together than you could have ever imagined.
They become your best friend.
As this school year comes to an end and I've have the chance to attend Carroll University with my older sister, I can honestly say she is one of my best friends. She's my day one, she's my go to and I know she will always be there for me whether it's to eat greasy food together, to get ice cream, to hang out or just talk. I could not imagine my freshman year without having my sister by my side and I'm not sure what I'll do without her next year. But for now, I'm just extremely thankful I've been able to spend time with her and that I learned I've had a best friend right next to me for the past 19 years.
