Sometimes we work very hard to mask our true colors, but there are definite benefits of that douchey side.
-Who doesn’t know you?
Sure, either everyone loves you or hates you, but that name recognition is key. All press is good press.
-You generally stand out in the crowd.
Wearing the shortest Chubbies or the biggest sorority shirt may get you some sidelong glances, but who really wants to walk through a room without turning heads?
-The positive way to describe a D-Bag is “confident.”
Confidence is all it takes, whether it’s going into a professor’s office to ask a question (try to raise your grade) or pitching an idea to your fraternity/sorority/service organization.
-Going to awkward date parties doesn’t faze you.
Best-case scenario: you can get a buddy to go with you and y’all can wallow in the uncomfortable conversations together.
Worst-case scenario: you can go back to the house with a few good anecdotes to share.
-Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, who's the loudest of them all?
You are. Just let it happen.
-You could make friends with a brick wall.
But more likely, you’ll make friends with a keg or real humans.
-Though you sit on the back row, your opinion is still heard throughout class.
Like I said, you’re the loudest.
There are still downsides to being “confident,” but leadership is about communicating your ideas and being able to stand out enough to be followed. The more confidence you have, the easier it is to walk in and rock a job interview or command a room. Being the loudest and the proudest pays off.
