While some of us were relaxing in an exotic place, on a huge cruise ship in the Caribbean, or laying on a beach in Florida for Spring Break, others of us went home to our quiet little towns for the week. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to be on a beach in Florida or swimming in the Bahamas, but I'll have to admit I really did enjoy my Spring Break just going home.
It is free!
One of the best parts about not going somewhere for Spring Break is saving hundreds of dollars. Coming home you have a free place to stay and free food for the majority of the time and not to mention it is free home-cooked food. Admit it, your house is probably a lot better than some cramped condo.
You are not the only one who came home.
Don't worry. you are not the only one going home for Spring Break. Most of your friends will surprisingly be home as well and many of them you have not seen since Christmas. Would you rather be going out with friends that you go to school with every day, or hang out with your friends that you haven't seen in three months? Okay, I know Florida still takes the cake on that one...but it is nice to see friends too.
But everyone home is still in school.
As all of your college friends are home from school, everyone else is still in school. This is nice because you can go hiking and go out without having to see a ton of people from home. Everyone is working back at school so you have the town to yourself. This is also nice when you want to eat at the same restaurant everyday for lunch and can successfully get your favorite meal without waiting around.
Dogs.
At school, we are pretty much pet deprived. When you see a dog on campus it is one of the best days of the week. I mean, who doesn't love hugging on a little pup? You can't love on pups in Florida can you? If you do have a dog it is nice to come home and be able to cuddle with them every night. And even if you yourself don't have a dog, I'm sure one of your close friends does and they wouldn't mind if you came over and cuddled with theirs.
Your bed.
While everything about Florida is great nothing beats sleeping in your own bed... sleeping on a beach is a close second. When you have the opportunity to come home and sleep in it you simply cannot turn it down. Anything is better than that Twin XL bed. And hey if you were in a condo you might even be sharing a twin bed with someone.
So don't get too bummed about just going home for Spring Break. Save that money you didn't spend and make sure you make that exotic Spring Break trip next year to make up for it!
