There Is No Right Way To Be A Woman

Beauty comes from the differences that make each of us unique.

Women

"If you save yourself for marriage, you're a bore. If you don't save yourself for marriage, you're a whore-able person. If you won't have a drink, then you're a prude. But they'll call you a "drunk" as soon as you down the first one. If you can't lose the weight, then you're just fat. But if you lose too much, then you're on crack. You're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't, so you might as well just do whatever you want," as Kasey Musgraves sings perfectly in "Follow Your Arrow."

I love this song, and I think it is an awesome anthem for feminism. "Why," you ask? Because there is no right way to be a woman! There may be people that try to enforce rules on us saying "you have to do this a certain way, otherwise you won't be successful." You are not less of a woman for taking a different path from what others may normally take. Everyone takes a different path in life. We should not have to do what is expected of us by society, and, luckily, I feel like times are changing for the better.

We have options and the power to shape our own lives. For example, when it comes to family matters, some women choose to have babies the natural way, while others opt for c-sections, surrogacy, adoption, fostering or avoiding parenthood entirely. After all, it is each woman and couple's choice to make. Despite whatever option you want yourself, you should not be judging others for the choices that they choose to make; this should apply to all decisions.

Women can be stay-at-home moms, or they can have careers that provide for their families.

Regardless of what they choose, they are still being good, caring moms to their children. If women want to save themselves for marriage, that's awesome, and if the woman and her partner want to do it before marriage, that's awesome, too! Why? Because its called "free will." Women can do whatever makes them happy, and as fellow women, we should be supporting them.

Exercise this across all ages of women, especially young girls growing into the world. Little girls can also do whatever they want, just like us, and we don't need to confine them to gender roles. If they want to play football, let them. If they want to play with Barbies, let them. If they want to watch "Star Wars" or Marvel movies, let them. If they want to watch a Disney princess movie, let them. If you restrict them just to what is expected of them, they might grow up thinking that they can only like certain things, growing up concealing feelings and truly beautiful identities.

As females, we all need to support one another, no matter what we are doing with our lives. There is already so much drama in the world right now, we shouldn't add to it. So let's all empower one another, and be there for each other.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
